Prenatal Interview

What Happens at a Prenatal Interview

Are you expecting? If so, congratulations! This is such an exciting time. All moms want to make sure that both they and their unborn children remain healthy throughout their pregnancy and this means getting proper prenatal care from a qualified medical professional. Here in Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ, the team at Phoenix Pediatrics provides prenatal care and services to expectant mothers to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

As soon as you see that positive pregnancy test you need to go ahead and give us a call to schedule your first prenatal interview, or visit. This visit will probably be the longest visit that you’ll have with our team, as we will go through your medical history, ask you questions about your health, measure vital signs, record your weight, run any necessary tests (e.g. blood tests) and perform an ultrasound. It’s normal for your first prenatal appointment to take about 90 minutes.

The first ultrasound will be performed to confirm an expected delivery date. After that, additional ultrasounds will be performed throughout your pregnancy to continue to monitor the health and development of your unborn child. After your first prenatal appointment, which usually occurs around the 8-week mark, you’ll come in around your 10th week of pregnancy for another visit. During this visit, genetic testing may be performed to check for certain abnormalities or health issues.

After these visits, you will come into our Phoenix, AZ, office every four to six weeks between your 10th and 28th week of pregnancy. At the 28-week marker, you should come in every 2-3 weeks for prenatal checkups. From 36 weeks until birth, moms-to-be should come into the office every week.

We also offer a wide range of services to pregnant women including prenatal classes and lactation support. We can also provide you with recommendations and advice for other classes and support groups in the area. We are here for you and your baby, and these prenatal visits are as much about you as they are about keeping your baby healthy. Don’t be afraid to ask us questions or to talk to us about any concerns you might have
