Why Newborn Care Visits are Important

Pediatricians are an essential part of your family’s healthcare team

Your baby is on its way. While you’re painting the nursery, reading up on the best car seats and preparing your house and your life for your new bundle of joy, it’s also essential that you take time to determine whom your baby’s pediatrician is going to be. Our Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ, pediatricians have provided care to newborns, young children and teens since 1976. We pride ourselves on gentle, loving and friendly newborn visits that support mothers and their babies.

Bringing Your Baby Into the Office

Within the first week of birth, you will bring your newborn in for their first well-child care visit with our Phoenix and Scottsdale, AZ, pediatric team. The first visit is our chance to get to know you and your baby better, so expect the first visit to take some time.

Each well-child checkup with your little one will provide different screening tools and preventive measures and address specific issues such as breastfeeding, diet and nutrition. These visits also allow us to monitor your child’s growth and development and keep them up to date on vaccines to protect against the spread of communicable diseases.

Well-child visits will occur,

  • Within the 1st week after birth
  • Two weeks old
  • One month old
  • Two months old
  • Four months old
  • Six months old
  • Nine months old
  • One year old
  • 15 months old
  • 18th months old
  • Two years old
  • 5 years old
  • Three years old
  • Once every year after three years old

These visits can be just as important for parents, especially first-time parents. We can provide breastfeeding assistance, answer your questions and address concerns regarding sleep habits, eating, bathing and more.

Why These Newborn Care Visits are Important

By bringing your newborn into our office for regular checkups, we can monitor and track their development and ensure they meet all developmental milestones. We can also catch health problems, behavioral disorders and learning issues early during these checkups.

We focus on comprehensive preventive healthcare measures such as routine checkups, vision and hearing screenings and vaccines to keep children safe and protected against certain diseases and disorders. We also know how to detect health problems quickly so we can provide your child with the treatment and management plan they need to lead their best and healthiest life.

There is so much to think about before your baby arrives, but the last thing you want to be scrambling to find is a pediatrician.
